Large quantities of unlicensed medications have actually been taken by Department of Health authorities during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications via the internet.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution .

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is essential that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

"These kinds of items being offered, normally online, have undergone no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not understand the impact drugs like this might have on your health."
